My sweet, chunky Iris is 9 months old! She is all over the place lately walking around things, climbing, crawling… She’s a go getter. She reminds me of Paisley who could stand up in the middle of a room holding onto nothing and then would sit back down. No attempt at steps. Then on her first birthday she walked across the room for a toy phone like it was nothing. Those were her first steps. Iris is just as opinionated, which is a bit worrisome. Ha!
Anyway. Iris is growing! She has been in size 4 diapers for a couple months. She loves her milk and is obsessed with eating. If her seat is on the floor, she will crawl in and wait for food.
Sweet girl has 2 bottom teeth and is working on top teeth. They are no joke! She has had a tiny runny nose from her teething the past couple days. As far as her gums go, I am a firm believer in amber. She has worn an amber necklace since birth. If you haven’t heard of this, so a duck duck go search on amber and teething. It can help with inflammation (aka gum swelling!). I also oil her gums regularly with Copaiba or Stress Away (contains copaiba). And then I slather us both in some Stress Away to help her emotions and my stress from her emotions. It’s a 2 for 1.
Iris and I have been mostly dairy free since she was born and I thought we were probably safe to start back up because she wasn’t spitting up….but MAN the gas! We basically didn’t sleep for a few nights because she kept waking up to fart. I cut dairy again a couple days ago and last night was MUCH better! So it’s sad, but I’m thankful I figured that out. In the meantime, to help her tummy I take Allerzyme, an enzyme to break foods down. I also roll TummyGize on her belly (or diluted DiGize if I run out) and a couple times have opened up a Life 9 probiotic and sprinkled a little in her mouth. (Check out my fav baby oils here!)
Iris’ favorite things to do are take sink baths, cruise the floor and find things to taste. She is obsessed with baths and fought me to climb in with Bubba last week.. She is getting better at playing in her Pack ‘n Play (thank goodness). She has some separation anxiety from me, so having anyone but me put her in always works better. She thinks she should be held 24/7 or on the floor cruising. Her best naps lately are van naps, so I love running errands with a big kid in the van so she can stay in her seat or getting home and working in the van while she sleeps. Sometimes I wear her to get her to relax and nap. She doesn’t want to miss a thing! We still cosleep and lately I have trouble even getting up to go to the bathroom or brush my teeth because the second I move away from her she stirs. I love and hate it, but it is totally a season I will miss.
She is becoming a little talker verbally and with sign. She currently says Momma, Dadda, Bubba, Ella, Ki all done, and maybe doggy. Fent also claims she said his name. She signs all done, milk, more, waves, and makes a kissey face that is so funny! She also gives great kisses. Iris hates getting her diaper or clothes changed. She LOVES taco night, but will eat about anything, both large pieces and tiny ones to practice her pincer grip.
I’m pretty sure she is going to turn blonde like Pais did. The new hair on the back of her head is coming in very light brown or blonde. Ella is wishing for curly red hair or brown. Pais is all about a blonde sister! Might just be Ella and me with brown hair over here.
What’s next this month? I’m pretty sure she will start walking at 9 months like Ella and Fenton did. We need to grab some shoes for her. The Target clearance ones are nowhere near as comfy as leather ones from Etsy! Her hair has to be fixed daily so it isn’t in her eyes and tangled in the back. More food regularly, not just when it’s convenient. (Milk still on tap whenever she wants.) More playground trips! She likes swinging. Probably pulling out some 18 month clothes. Girlfriend is growing! And of course, tons of snuggles, kisses, and fighting over who gets her.
